Dr. De La Mora grew up in the border city of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He moved to Dallas after being accepted to the University of Texas at Dallas and graduated Magna-Cum Laude with a BS in Molecular and Cell Biology. He joined the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2006 as the first generation of students from the Joint Admissions Medical Program (JAMP); he was the only recipient of the Tom and Carolyn Walker full-ride scholarship at the institution. Dr. de la Mora went on to complete his internal medicine residency at the university of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where he made multiple contributions to a multimedia archives for the efficient navigation and proper use of the Electronic Medical Records, as well as order sets for common hospital bedside procedures for the internal Medicine residents.He is Board Certified in the Internal Medicine and joined the faculty at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso, Texas in September of 2013. As a young Assistant Professor, Dr. De La Mora quickly became involved in multiple areas of the growing campus. He has been designated Chair of the Patient-Center Medical Home (PCMH) workgroup and has been appointed member of the Medical School Admissions, Credentialing and Clinic Improvement Committees. His current practice involves being a mentor to JAMP students, advisor to residents, and direct patient-care in the General Internal Medicine clinic at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso.Dr. De La Mora is fluent in Spanish and his personal hobbies include drawing, photography and chess.
