Dr. Chang is originally from Cuba. She obtained her medical degree from Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey in 2003. After graduation, she spent one year in Guantánamo, Cuba working as a primary care physician. In 2005, she travelled to Limbe, Haiti as part of the Cuban Medical Collaboration in Haiti to work as a general practitioner in underserved areas. She decided to move to the United States in 2006 to pursue more medical training. She completed her Internal Medicine residency in 2013 at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine at the Permian Basin. During her residency, she became interested in Infectious Disease and successfully concluded fellowship at University of Florida College of Medicine in 2015. She moved to El Paso to start working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine.
